It is with amazement that I see so much ink given to the ‘End Times’. The bible clearly states that no one knows the day or the hour when the patience of God will end:
Matthew 24:36 states:
36 “But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.”
Every day we have here on earth is another day for us to evaluate our standing with God and His mercy on us. Every day God gives us another chance to say ‘yes’ to Him, or ‘no’ to Him. By this I mean, will we give our lives to service to Him, or to ourselves?
If you wonder what we are supposed to do, according to God, then He gives us the answer in His Word, the Holy Bible:
The two greatest commandments are from Matthew 22:36-40:
36 “Teacher, which is the great commandment in the law?”
37 Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the first and great commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40 On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.”
Then there is the Great Commission, Matthew 28:16-20:
16 Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, to the mountain which Jesus had appointed for them. 17 When they saw Him, they worshiped Him; but some doubted.
18 And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.
The one thing that most of us may not put too much thought into is the fact that the End Times will come upon us the day we breathe our last breath here on earth. None of us know when that will be.
We could be in a car accident, have a heart attack, or go to sleep one night and never wake up. This is the End of Time for ‘us.’ The world will go on without us, our loved ones will be in sorrow over our passing, and over time, things will get back to normal and ‘normal’ life on earth will continue.
This is why we shouldn’t keep putting off when we will get serious with our relationship with God. Today is the day! Tomorrow may never come! For Jesus Himself said in Matthew 7:21:
21 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.
What is God’s Will? Remember the two greatest commandments and the Great Commission from earlier in this blog?
So is going to church for an hour each week enough? Will that save you from being separated from God for all of eternity? How can you be saved?
What does the bible say in Acts 16:30-31:
30 He then brought them out and asked, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?”
31 They replied, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved—you and your household.”
It is also important when you believe ‘in’ Jesus, that you also ‘believe’ Jesus. To follow and live for Jesus, is to follow His commandments and do His Will. It cannot be just lip service, but a lifetime commitment to serving Him. Just remember, we do not know the day our the hour when our time will end here on earth.
Don’t keep putting it off, ask Jesus into your heart today!
A prayer of salvation:
Dear God, I believe that You sent Your only begotten Son Jesus Christ, to die on the cross, so that by believing in Him I can be forgiven of my sins, and be redeemed because His innocent blood was shed for me.
I believe that it is only through His death on the cross and resurrection that I can be made right with You.
I confess Lord, that I am a sinner and in need of a Savior. I believe that Jesus Christ was the sinless sacrifice that died to pay the price for my sins and I believe that He is the only person who is qualified to die for me, for He alone lived a sinless life and died as an innocent victim.
Thank You for loving me enough to send Your only begotten, sinless Son to become a Man, so that He could offer Himself as the perfect Lamb of God, Who takes away the sin of the world. Thank You for loving me and for dying for me. Help me to live a life that honors You, in thought, word and deed.
Father, I repent of all my sin and I turn away from them to Christ. I pray that You would keep me holy and set apart for You as I seek to live for You. I ask this in the name of Jesus Christ, my Savior,
Amen.
Go and find a church to have fellowship with other believers! They will welcome you with open arms and walk with you as you begin your new life as a child of God!
And then to answer the title of this blog:
Is this the End Times? Does it Matter?
No, it does not matter, for you are now a child of God and you will spend eternity with Him, no matter if you are alive when the end of the world happens, or today is the day you breathe your last breath here on earth.
